We specialize in snorkel tours in Key Largo to John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park to see the amazing underwater world. The John Pennekamp underwater park is the only underwater sate park in the USA and is a smaller part of the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary that was from in 1990. The park stretches from the shoreline out to the 6 mile point on the other site of the reef system. We travel to the park twice a day from our dock in the Pilot House Marina.

In the park you will see our amazing reefs covered in fish of all shapes and sizes.  The visibility is often crystal clear and you can see the bottom before you get off our boat. Most of the reef systems are in around 25 feet of water and in some places as shallow as 8 feet of water. The magnificent turquoise color of the water is an amazing sight to see and worth going out on a boat just to see it. bring your family and friends for a morning or afternoon on the reef and you won’t be disappointed even if you don’t get in to the water.

Located close to the water our boats have a purpose built swim step on the back that makes it real easy to get into the water and a large ladder with 4 steps to ensure you can get back on easily. No jumping off from a big boat.

Avoiding the crowds

We believe that smaller groups are better for both the safety of our customers and the impact on the reefs. Having smaller groups enables us to provide individual attention to every customer and keep a watchfull eye whilst your in the ocean. We offer private snorkel charters for individual groups up to 12 snorkelers. This ensures that it will only be your group on the boat. You can sit back and relax between your snorkel excursions and can get on and off the boat as many times as you like. Don’t want to go too far away from the boat? You can just get in and hold on to our safety line and float around with one of our noodles.

Trip Times

Snorkel Tours depart at 8am and return around 11.30am and again at 1pm returning around 4.30pm.  It takes around 35 minutes each way to get to the reef and back giving plenty of time to snorkel.  We go to two separate snorkel sites and spend up to an hour at each site.

Snorkel Tours include Mask, snorkel, fins, safety vest. Wetsuits if required can be rented per person @ $10 each trip. On board we also provide Iced Water, reef safe sunscreen and a great sense of humor.  We know that you will have a great time!

How will we see the best wildlife

swimstep

If you have not snorkeled before our crew will give you expert instruction before you get into the water. You will be briefed on what the reef looks like but you can be sure you wont have to go far from the boat to see all the cool wildlife.  If you would like to have a guide in the water with you we can arrange this at a small additional charge of $100 for 1 person and $10 for each additional person up to 6 people.

Our snorkel boats are licensed 22 snorkelers but we usually carry between 10 and 12 so comfort and service levels are high!

How do we book a tour?

We advise that you make reservations at least a day in advance. During busy periods in the summer book a week or two in advance as we can be pretty sure the weather will be good for you to go out most days. Our private and exclusive snorkel tours are $599 per group and you get the boat just to your group of up to 12 passengers(you do not have to snorkel if you do not want to!). The booking process is quick and all online if you choose, we just need your name, telephone number, email address and credit card details to secure your reservation.

Either call or email us or for an instant reservation use the book now button on this website!

Where else do we go?

One of the most popular Snorkel trips is to the statue of Christ at Key Largo Dry Rocks.  A great site with lots of reef fish and we often see Stingrays there. Make sure to let the crew know that you want to go to the statue when you get on the boat and we will head out that way for sure!

Our crews know the reef and will not just take you to the standard places but will assess conditions of the whole reef and take you to a great snorkel site that will have the least crowds on it.

If the Weather is not good to go to the reef?

When weather does not allow our Snorkel Trips to go to the reef we run eco tours out on the Bayside where we take you to the mangrove Islands and you can snorkel Key Largos fish nursery.  We can often see baby sharks, Sea Horses and all manner of small interesting critters.  This tour also includes passage through Adams Cut and under the US1.

Want to try SCUBA diving on the reef?

We can teach you the basics of SCUBA diving in our local pool and take you out for two dives on the magical Key Largo Coral reef in the afternoon!  Check out our Discover SCUBA Diving program.
