The PADI Open Water Referral is 1 and half days with 4 dives on the coral reef during the process. The cost is $299 per diver as long as you have taken the online learning with PADI. The cost is based on a party of 4 all taking a referral course with us. If there are less or more in your group please call us for firm pricing.
If you have completed your knowledge reviews and pool work with another agency we can still help with your checkout dives. Take your paperwork back to your local dive shop who will issue your certification card from your chosen SCUBA training agency.
We understand that all student divers will be anxious when taking their first dives in the ocean. Our PADI Open Water Referral course is strictly private. It will only be your group on the boat with our excellent instructor. All of you dives will be in shallow but beautiful areas. We also choose the dive sites based on where we think the best ocean conditions will be on that day and not what is the best reef for all the other divers we may have on the boat.
Start by sending us a copy of your completed referral documentation that was given to you when you completed your pool training.. Call us and make a reservation for your in water training
You arrive with us on day 1 at 9am at our dock shop at the Pilot House marina in the centre of Key Largo. We complete and review the necessary paperwork and start off with a review of the knowledge training you had and clarify any areas that you are unsure of. Once completed we will conduct an equipment review at the dock and discuss boat diving etiquette.
You will be diving inside of a protected area in the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary. This is a no take no touch area so we will ensure that you are briefed fully on what that entails.
Boarding on the boat takes place around 12.30 for a departure time of 1pm. During our journey to the reef the instructor will brief you fully on the skills that will be covered the first dive.
Once we get to the dive site and the crew have secured the boat you will get a brief of the dive site from the captain. The dive time will be around 30 mins and this takes into account some time to get in the water and get comfortable with your new surroundings prior to the dive.
The next morning (or afternoon if you prefer) you will go the the reef again and complete your final 2 dives and become a certified SCUBA diver.
On return to the dock there is a little more paperwork to complete and its all done!
